CENTRAL BALTIMORE COUNTY DEMOCRATIC CLUB MEETING 08/10/10 CBCDC MEMBERS TO ENDORSE COUNTY EXECUTIVE; FORMER EXEC AND AUTHOR TED VENETOULIS TO SPEAK Dear Members and other Friends of CBCDC, The Newsletter is taking a well-deserved vacation but please donât think that our upcoming meeting is not extremely important. THINK COUNTY EXECUTIVE! Plan to join us at 6:45 for refreshments, 7:15 to hear former County Executive and current author, Ted Venetoulis, discuss his book, HAIL TO THE CHEAT and talk about current Maryland politics. Following that, the members will be voting on whether or not to support the Endorsement Committee's recommendation for County Executive, Kevin Kamenetz. AGENDA: 1.Ted Venetoulis, former Baltimore County Executive, will join us to lead off our August meeting. Mr. Venetoulis, whose novel Hail to the Cheat has received wonderful reader reviews: (âIf you are looking for a woman's book . . . this is it. If you are looking for a funny book . . . this is it. If you are looking for a funny, woman's book . . . buy two!â (http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Hail-to-the-Cheat/Ted-Venetoulis/e/9781933 300368). Ted will read a few passages from the book, sign copies for those buying it, and talk about the political scene from his experienced perspective. He will also answer a few questions from Club members. 2. The 2010 Central Baltimore County Democratic Club Endorsement Committee has recommended that the club endorse Kevin Kamenetz for Baltimore County Executive. However, the final say on endorsements belongs to CBCDC members. We recommend that all candidates attend the endorsement meeting on August 10, as the club has overturned the committeeâs recommendation in the past. At the meeting, 60% must vote yes in order for the recommendation to be accepted. (Only those who have been members for 30 days prior to August 10 can vote.) If 60% do not vote for the endorsement, another vote will be taken, using a ballot listing candidates who were presented to the Endorsement Committee. Prior to the second vote, there will be 10 minutes of discussion, with speakers limited to 30 seconds each. If no candidate receives at least 60% of the vote, no endorsement will be made for that office. We expect to see a huge crowd -- members and non-members alike -- for the County Executive Endorsement and to welcome Mr. Venetoulis! Come early for refreshments and to gab with your political friends and colleagues about the 2010 elections!
